first doctor's visit.

April 16th.2007.
at only 1 week old, we took Trey for his first doctor's appointment. i guess some pediatricians want to see them at a week after birth (versus when ava was born and they waited until they were 2 weeks old).

he had gained all of his weight back and everything else (including his circumcision) looked great. his doctor said she was very surprised at how alert he was. i thought she was just saying that, but she said she honestly hasn't ever seen a baby as awake & observant as he is this early on.
on our way home, we stopped to pick up his stroller from bassinets & blueberries...it was finally in stock and we were so excited to finally have it.
here we are after we got back home...tuckered out after a long day.

mini~vacation

this little guy was looking a little stressed out a few days after we got home...so i decided to put him in his swing for what i like to call a "mini~vacation". i just told him to look at the gently swaying palm fronds (love that word- "frond")...i was talking in a soothing voice "....just rellllaaaaaxxxx". it worked. he loves his swing.

Trey meets GranDaD.

my DaDDa (step-dad) was out of the country when trey was born and here is their first meeting (about 2 weeks after he was born). later that nite, trey got some flying lessons from his dear ol' grandad...bet he can't wait to take him for his first flight.

big sister...luvin' her baby brother.

monkey butt.

first visits to the midget.

okay. so he's not a midget. but he is a little person. and that is pretty much the same thing.

nana (my mommie) & ava-chi.

uncle patrick ~ checkin' out his new surfing buddy.

first nite ~ sound asleep.

i am so blessed to still have my grandmother "momonjoon"...she is the most beautiful, kind, and funny woman i know. she had 6 children of her own and they all turned out to be such creative & smart individuals. i don't know how she did it...there is so much i hope to learn from her.

uncle jeremy had this shirt made (the word "dialer" is a frankie-ism)...so, we just had to make this one of the first outfits he wore when he got home & was getting ready for visitors.

already napping with daddie.

we are outta' here...

leaving the hospital was actually bitter-sweet. i am definately not a hospital person, so didn't picture myself getting attached. but i had also forgotten how wonderful the staff is at Hoag. they take such great care of you & the majority of the nurses are so positive...it really was sad to know i probably wasn't ever going to see them again. you can't help but feel connected with these people that see so much of you & help you in your most painful (& also joyous) moments in life. Deni, who was my nurse 2 nites while i was there, was a really pretty older nurse who was also super funny. i got her to sneak into my room & watch some girlie shows with me (dancing with the stars & the bachelor- to name a few). she would sing 'pussycat dolls' songs to trey instead of traditional lullabyes. this was amusing because i sing my kids the most random songs as well, bob marley & ben harper are some of trey's favs so far. and ava used to love the grease songs i would sing to her. anyway, the moral of the story is...even if you don't like hospitals- you're gonna' love hoag and may even be sad to leave!

well, we were ready to go...but, while we were waiting for all the discharge paperwork, etc. Trey was also waiting patiently:
first car-ride (always overwhelming for the parents):
and finally...we stopped to pick ava up at school...surprising her with her little baby brother in the back seat. we went home & found a stork in the front yard with a star for the big sis...which was all arranged by auntie e-sha ~ she's the best!

1st days:

thanx again to all of my wonderful friends & family that came to see us. also, to everyone for the lovely flowers & gifts. they really all were amazing!
here are some pix from the first few hospital visitors (clockwise from top: uncle jeremy "shermie", auntie janina "nino", brandi boon, joannah & shea):
